Dream Team Showdown!! (Plus Spain)

Dream Team Showdown!! (Plus Spain)

Thank you Kobe Bryant, thank you. I never thought I would ever utter those words, but thank you Kobe. In a calculated act of hubris, you claimed that this year’s Olympic squad could beat the fabled “Dream Team.” Sports writers, talk show hosts, and personalities alike all simultaneously popped mini-chubbies in excitement of all the debate this would generate. Who would win? LeBron versus Barkeley, Kobe versus Jordan, Pippen versus Durant, Malone versus Love? It would be amazing! So after some discussion, I realized, why should we stop at just 2012 versus 1992? There have been some great USA teams throughout the ages. How would they compare? The possibilities are endless. So Speak Easy decided to settle this (not really, but just for fun).
Let the debate begin:

Speak Easy’s The International Tournament of Champions

Before we begin, there are a few things to address. First, we at the Easy have managed to clone every player involved right at the time they were playing for their team. So Jordan is 29 years old, 1 championship (not 6) and not the greatest player of all time. Also, each team has their own version of each player. So 2008 Kobe would absolutely abuse 2012 Kobe. Second, we threw in an International team just to make it interesting. We did not want to include the 1998 strike team, which featured Trajan Langdon and Brad Miller. Third, it will be an 8-team bracket, first round or quarters are best of three, semis are best of 5 and the finals are a 7-game series. Finally, seeding is determined by in-depth research and analysis, based on wining, players, players who turned it down, age of players, and coaching.
